Robert called me in a panic. “How do I do it!? Everything I try ends up failing or not working out.” Robert – my soon to be Dad – had tried to propose to my Mom (NeCole) several times. Each time a plan would fail I would help him come up with another extravagant detailed plan that would BLOW my mom’s mind. But the proposals kept falling through. over. and over. and over again! For different reasons. They knew they wanted to get married on September 26. So he really needed to pop the question with their wedding being in a few weeks.
Sunday night, I get a call from my mom. “Guess what!? It’s officially official.” ROBERT PROPOSED! It wasn’t while indoor skydiving. It wasn’t in a hot air balloon ride (the fires in Utah canceled that the day before the proposal). It wasn’t a horse-drawn buggy that took her to a table with sparkling cider while a private violinist serenaded them. It wasn’t in a helicopter ride that -while overlooking Blythe California – the lights “will you marry me” came on. BUT, it was perfect.
Robert took NeCole over to the creek that runs through her property. He had carved a heart in a tree with their names in it. It was there that he told her exactly why he can’t wait to spend the rest of his life with her. Getting on one knee, he asked the question. She said yes. And now they always have that spot that they can go to. AND, THEIR OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL.
Even though these over the top proposals would have been awesome, my Mom said it meant the world to her to know that Robert bent over backward to try and get all these different ideas to work out. And he really did! I got first row tickets to see this guy stress out like crazy as he arranged so many different proposals. Someone who is willing to go through all of that, just for my mom. Is perfect for her. So Robert, you already know this, but you got my stamp of approval! Welcome to the family!
